Wedding photography on the beach at Ft.Fisher NC

A fantastic day of wedding photography at Ft. Fisher and Wilmington North Carolina...

I have been packing and preparing like a mouse before a snowstorm because I will be hitting the road late tomorrow for an extended trip down south. In the midst of all this going on, I have this gorgeous wedding that I have to share with you guys before I leave.

My clients E & A wanted to get married in a beautiful coastal area of North Carolina and they found the perfect ceremony spot at Ft. Fisher State Park near Kure Beach. This location is really unique in the way that the trees grow here at the beach. These knarled windswept oak trees look pretty darn epic in the background for photos and add a touch of old school Nautical Coastal Carolina flavor to the wedding day.

Lucky for all of us, the weather at the beach was sunny and not too hot so everyone was in fine spirits as the ceremony got underway. There was a really romantic feel to all of it, from the sounds of the gulls crying overhead to the soft ocean breeze that carried the smell of salt and beach roses in the air. I thought it was particularly awesome that the couple's dog served as the grooms best man because dogs are awesome of course!

After the ceremony concluded E., A. & I headed to the rocky shoreline to capture some couples portraits that would utilize the lovely blue Atlantic behind them. After we got the shots that they wanted we found our way to the shade of the oak trees to take a couple more pictures before driving a few minutes north to the Carolina Beach boardwalk. After all was said and done, this couples portrait session ended up being one of my favorites ever taken!

Once the couples portraits time ended we all drove into downtown Wilmington to meet up at their wedding venue, The Atrium by Ligon Flynn. I only ended up staying on for a few minutes during their reception but I managed to capture a few beautiful candid pic's of the happy couple and their guest having fun at this gorgeous indoor/outdoor venue. What a treat it was to be able to photograph this wedding, would do it again all over just for fun haha!

Cheers to A. & E.!
