A few of my favorite photos from my portfolio

August 02, 2017  •  Leave a Comment

I will be on the road this week headed to the Florida Keys for a working vacation of sorts so I thought while I am away I'd share some of my favorite photos with you...

So far I've got plans to spend an equal amount of time taking photographs and videos for a tropically themed paid/stock photography assignment as well as doing a bit of snorkeling and beach combing under the palms at the Blue Water Key Resort. It's been about a million years since I have been down to this part of the country and I am really looking forward to spending some time with my family in our RV.

I have embedded a brand-new Instagram feed below that will serve as my live "behind the scenes" photo blog. This week the feed will feature some of my personal photos ( non wedding related) from the road ahead and of my campsite. I hope that I'll be able to add a few pretty pics of the island itself that I'll be staying on and of the downtown Key West area. Going forward, I plan to use this Instagram account to give all of you a look at the various things that do as a professional photographer on a day to day basis. Honestly though, it might be kinda boring as there is usually a lot of sitting at my desk and writing emails involved but who knows, maybe it will be cool anyway, haha!

Thinking about the adventures to come this week has inspired a swell of gratitude for the people who have put me in this position in life. It has been an incredible year here at Silvercord Event Photography with a record amount of bookings, the addition of a Photo Booth service, the hiring of two additional photographers, hiring a videographer and not to mention the launching of a second business in South Carolina with my best friend, Silvercord South Photography. My husband and I could not be happier right now with our company Silvercord Event Photography, and it is all thanks to my amazing, wonderful, awesome clients and their families. I am profoundly grateful to wake up every morning and know that I get to work on their photos every day.

A few weeks ago I created a gallery of some of my all time favorite photos that I have captured and plan to add more photos to it every month. Some of the photographs are from weddings and engagements but I think that I'll be adding a couple of my nature shots to the gallery too in the near future. The process of selecting these images has been a happy one for me because each photograph still brings back so many great memories from that day that I snapped the pic.

I care so much how my clients feel about their photos, and I wonder if they still smile when they turn the pages of their wedding albums remembering how that cake that I took a photo of tasted, how it felt to share that first dance under the DJ's lights when they scroll through their gallery online? I hope that they do! Gosh knows, I still feel it every time I post new photos to my public portfolio. Each image brings back acute memories of camera settings, music playing and the heart pounding excitement of getting THE shot. Beyond that, I can acutely feel what the overall vibe of the day was for each and every wedding I've photographed every single time I review one of the photos I've taken. Yeah, ok maybe that's a little odd but it's one of the reasons why I enjoy photographing weddings so much. Being a wedding photographer allows me to be around people on the happiest days of their lives, week after week. Whenever I edit their photos all of those happy memories come rushing back, which is just an incredible way to live when ya stop and think about it. Truly it is an indescribable joy to earn my living doing what I love, for those who are in love.

Anyway, I guess that about wraps up my post this week. If you've got any thoughts about my favorite pic's gallery above I'd love to hear from ya so leave a comment if you're so inclined :)

Oh wait..one more thing, although I will be technically out of the "office" I will be available via email using the CONTACT page on this website (or use this LINK ) or via text at (919) 449-7331 throughout the week ahead so if you'd like to contact me to book a wedding or photoshoot that is not a problem. Heck if you just want to say hi, that would be cool too!

 :)

Cheers,

Sally Siko
