Check out this gorgeous wedding that I photographed for my clients B & C at Snipes Farm Retreat in Chapel Hill, NC.
The first thing to note was that this couple did things a little differently than the 'usual schedule-wise, and you know what? It was awesome!

Soon after B & C's arrival at the farm, we got started taking the "formal" photos first of their families and friends behind the main barn. There was plenty of laughter and love to go around as we moved on quickly from "posed" photos to boisterously fun group photos.

B & C broke away from the more familiar wedding day itinerary by then holding their wedding reception dinner before their ceremony.

It was nice because the meal was super laid back as there were none of the usual time constraints of more "traditional" activities (such as cake cutting, bouquet toss, or garter throwing) planned to interrupt the table side conversations held between the couple and their guests as they moved throughout the room.

After it appeared that everyone had finished their meals, the announcement was made requesting all of the guests to make their way outside to the side of the barn where B & C would hold their ceremony on the lawn.

The couple was surrounded by their families and closest friends standing beside them as they exchanged their vows. Though the slate-colored skies threatened rain the entire time, the drops held off until the ceremony was done and sealed with that forever "first kiss".

Once the ceremony concluded B & C wanted me to take a big group photo of everyone who attended their wedding. Of course, I happily obliged and snapped off a nice picture for them and then grabbed a funny group pic too. It's so awesome to work with clients with a goofy- fun -loving side!

Now it was time for the couples formal portrait time. Luckily we happened to be at one of the prettiest properties in Chapel Hill so finding a lovely green backdrop was not a problem at all.

I avoided posing B & C in lew of letting them just be themselves as I captured a bunch of gorgeous portraits of the two of them walking and chatting with one another. The light was so good that it was hard not to get a swoon-worthy photo with every click!

Then, the rains came. Boy did it ever pour! B, C and I dashed into the covered patio on the side of the barn to avoid getting soaked. Well, mostly! Haha, the couple actually was totally OK with getting some fun rain portraits so they grabbed an umbrella and headed back outside into the deluge so that I could take some super cute (and funny, OMG!) pictures of the two of them hamming it up between the raindrops.

I LOVE working with people like this who look for fun photo opportunities in unconventional scenarios. I'm down for taking photos in any weather so I was all about capturing these rain photos for them.

Once the "formal" couples pictures were through, we rejoined the couple's guests back inside the barn to enjoy the rest of the wedding reception. With a live band and loads of fun-loving party-people, the dance floor was packed. It was a ton of fun for me to capture all of the candid moments shared between everyone in attendance as they danced the night away under the sparkling lights at Snipes Farm.

When it was all said and done, I enjoyed every single second of shooting this wedding. It was awesome to spend time doing things a bit differently than the norm and I'd definitely love to photograph another not so "schedule-traditional" wedding day at Snipes Farm (or anywhere else!) with awesome people just like B & C.
