First and last dance wedding photography~
Another fun part of my job as a wedding photographer is covering the "first dance" between the newlywed couple. It's a beautiful moment when you've got a romantic song playing while my clients friends and family look on to the happy couple as they move along the dance floor together for the first time has husband and wife.
My goal is capture the grace and elegance of the moments as the song plays on under the lights, beneath the stars or even during a rainstorm :)
I usually photograph first dances using my zoom lens so that I don't distract my clients during this special time at their wedding. Dancing is all about letting go and its important to me that my presence goes generally un detected so that I don't interfere with the intimacy of the shared moment between the couple.
The last dance photos are generally a lot more relaxed and quite often a lot of fun to photograph because by now it's all about the party! This is the time when everyone joins in and its easy to get those once in a lifetime shots of my clients guests letting loose on the dance floor. Although I prefer again to use my zoom lens I will often get a bit closer to the action to capture that "being in the middle of it" kind of feeling towards the end of the night. It is an incredible thing to be able to capture people having a blast with their families and friends. So much joy to go around so get yourself out there on the floor and make some memories!
Here are a few of my favorite first and last dance photos that I've photographed over the past few years, enjoy!
