Engagement photography at the Rand Bryan House, Raleigh NC

One of the best things about my job is the chance to meet and work alongside some pretty awesome people. My clients E & L were no exception and truly are exactly the sort of folks that I enjoy spending time with. Big hearts & bright smiles and a sense of humor always put me at ease whenever I meet with new clients, a fact which I hope shines through in the photos I take.

E & L desided to have thier engagement photography portraits taken at the Rand Bryan House. It was particularly special to the couple to have their engagement pics photographed here because this is where they will be wed next April. Kind of a "before & after" photoshoot :)

We got started with the photos on a sweltering summer afternoon on the left side lawn of the Rand Bryan House under the shade of a cherry tree ( which I hope will be in full bloom when they tie the knot next spring). 

After that we headed around to the back lawn and then onto the other side of the main house to photograph E & L in the exact spot where their wedding ceremony will take place.

It was cool to try and picture what the lawn would look like next year in the spring with all of their wedding decor set up and to try and figure out what trees will have leaves vs. not for the wedding day photography backdrop.

We then moved on to the large sunlit field behind the hedge row to capture a few gorgeous romantic photos of E & L holding each other while standing in the tall grass. Lol, I tried to work as fast as I could because the heat was cookin' and I did not want my clients to melt. Big time thanks to E & L for their patience with me while soldiering through the heat of a Carolina summer afternoon!

* I always try to get people out of the sun ( because fighting to overpower the light from the sun with my flash is annoying & who wants to sweat for photos! ) as much as possible but occasionally I have to seize a beautiful photographic opportunity when a sunny, golden & green filed presents itself. 

Now it was time to go inside the Rand Bryan House for a quick photo or two on the couch, some air conditioning & a cold drink of water. Wheewww, what a relief, haha!

We talked for a few min's while soaking up the AC and decided to end the afternoon with a couple last shots of E & L snuggling together on one of the white rocking chairs on the front porch. These photos ended up becoming my favorites of the afternoon and I hope that E & L will give me a chance to photograph them in the exact same pose next spring ( but while wearing the suit and the white dress).
