One of the best things about being an engagement photographer here in North Carolina is that no matter the time of year, the weather here is always perfect for planning local engagement photo sessions...

Our temperature climate offers the possibility of the flourishing of many species of flowering trees, shrubs, and bushes. The autumn season sets the trees aglow with tones of gold, orange, and red which are truly stunning when used as a backdrop for portraiture. Even in the cooler months of winter, there are still wonderful photography opportunities to find here in central North Carolina. I have always thought that there nothing quite as beautiful as freshly fallen snow or the way that ice sparkles on tree branches after a storm.

Based in the heart of NC, The JC Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh is an amazing place to capture beautiful portraits of my clients. This Arboretum hosts thousands of plants from all over the world which serve as the perfect natural backdrop for outdoor photos. Whether it is spring, summer, winter or fall this garden is truly stunning all year round. A walk through the property will find meandering paths dotted with wooden benches under shady trees. With a million shades of green leaves mixed with stunning brightly colored flowers, it's hard to picture a more beautiful place to hold an engagement photography session.

This venue is open to the public and there is no admission fee which is always great! That being said, it can get quite crowded here on the weekends so I found it's best to schedule my client's photo shoots on weekday mornings at 9 am before it gets too busy. The JC Raulston Arboretum is open 365 days a year with amended hours in the fall and winter.
