Editing pictures is one of the best parts about being a photographer. It's a neat opportunity to get creative and try to discover new ways to deliver the reality of the wedding day for my couples. Lately I've been working on a little side project to render 2D photographs taken with my Canon SLR's into 3D images.

It's an interesting medium to work with. The process goes something like this. First I choose a photo that has a lot of depth, then I create a custom depth map image in Photoshop. This means that I "paint" over the photo in grey scale the distances from the foreground to the background. This depth map image file is then merged with the original photograph and exported into a 3D formatted file. 

At this time, the only way to show off these photographs is to post them onto Facebook because as far as I know there isn't 3D player out there that I can code into my website. The cool thing is that I CAN deliver 3D photographs to my couples that they can post onto their own personal Facebook pages which is pretty damn awesome!  In the meantime, you can check out some of my 3D portfolio photos below.  Just roll your mouse curser over the portraits to see the 3D effect.
