My favorite engagement photography location, the J.C. Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh N.C.

Central North Carolina is wonderful place to be a wedding photographer. With a ton of great places to hold engagement sessions in our local area, it's nice to haves to many options of where we can to go to take pictures. From parks, gardens, farms and lakes to private estates and local downtown areas, we've got it all! Sometimes it can be overwhelming to choose just one so my you might be asking, "where is the best place to go?"

The J.C. Raulston Arboretum is my answer! With acres and acres of plants from around the world on display, this place offers the widest array of natural backdrop opportunities in a small area. Better yet, it's an awesome place to take portraits at all year round, including in the cooler months of autumn and winter.

Here is a description of the property via the JCRA website : "Many exquisite gardens set the stage for displaying new plant introductions at the JC Raulston Arboretum. Many of these areas follow a formal design with a particular theme, while others address contemporary issues or display new techniques in landscape design. Some of the gardens were designed and built primarily by students in landscape horticulture classes. The gardens are maintained by volunteer leaders under the supervision of the JCRA staff. A stroll through the gardens in any season is a rich experience, each one inspiring new ideas that can be directly used in your home gardens and landscapes."
