A day of Wedding photography at Nesselrod on the New River B&B in Radford, Virginia
I was sooooo happy when Chloe and Rob contacted me a year ago to ask if I was available to photograph their wedding day at their venue, the Nesselrod on the New River Bed and Breakfast. I had not photographed a wedding in Radford Virginia before and was super excited to make the trip from the Raleigh area up to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I'm originally from N.O.V.A. so anytime I get the opportunity to travel to Virginia I get a happy feeling inside that's hard to explain. I guess it really just feels like "going home".
When I arrived at the venue, I got out of the truck and took a quick walk around the property to look for photo spots before I met up with Chloe and Rob. I was searching for places that would make for a nice backdrop for portrait time after the ceremony and I was not disappointed! This place is absolutely perfect for the style of outdoor portraits that I prefer to shoot. Lots of fall colors, green grass and ivy draped from the tall pine trees. Better still, the ceremony spot was freak'n perfect for photos. Loved those tall trees and the sweet white gazebo at the end of the emerald aisle lawn.

Once I wrapped up my tour of the site, I went inside the main house to photograph Chloe and Rob as they got ready for their big day. My second shooter Gregg captured some great pic's of the guys getting ready while I photographed the ladies. The decor and neutral walls of the bridal get ready suite was perfect for photography! All that light pouring through the windows (even though it was a cloudy day!) looked great in the pictures when all was said and done.

Chloe and Rob exchanged their vows in the garden in front of the venue under steely skies. I absolutely love taking pictures on cloudy overcast days because the sun isn't out casting harsh shadows on the couple during their ceremony. It just looked like a soft silver light was illuminating the entire scene. Just perfect!

The couple and I had fun capturing their family and wedding party pictures for sure! What a fun group, lol! Lot's of smiles and sillyness all around which I am 100% down with when it comes to "formal" portrait time.

Next thing on the agenda was to explore the grounds of the estate to take Chloe and Rob's romantic portraits. This went by quickly because I had already scoped out the area when I arrived on site, so we did not waste any precious time at all searching for beautiful spots to take pictures. I loved how sweet and funny the couple are together in each shot. It's hard not to smile while I am writing this remembering all of the great moments I captured of the two of them during this time.

With the couples portraits wrapped up, we headed on into the barn area to enjoy the reception. Oh my gosh, what a party this was! There were so many people dancing and laughing, my biggest problem was in deciding which candid moments to capture. Lol, this is a GREAT problem to have btw!!! Candid photos are my absolute favorites to take on a wedding day so it is safe to say I was in wedding photographer heaven at Rob and Chloe's reception. They even had an axe throwing cart on site for their guests to have fun with (awesome!) and a dog running around during the party (yes, I got to pet him, yay!) I could not have had a better time photographing an evening such as this.
