What it means when I say your candid wedding day moments matter

The dress hanging in a window. The First Look. The First Kiss. The family pictures. Your romantic portraits. The First Dance. The bouquet toss. The cake cutting. The list can go on... These are the pictures that every bride should expect to receive from her wedding photographer. And rightly so. Those kinds pictures are like chapter markers in a book. They are important in that they help put in context in the timeline of your day’s events. But, I think that perhaps your wedding day photography delivery deserves more than a line by line item, checked-off of a generic shot list that everyone can rip off of the internet. I believe that there is an art and purpose in documenting the unplanned moments too. That the kind of candid photographs featured in this post tell the real story of what it felt like to experience your wedding day. From the time a butterfly landed on your auntie’s dress right after your family pictures, the smiles shared between your mom and your best friend when they arrived at your wedding ceremony, to that twinkle in the eyes of your grandfather when dancing with your grandmother during your reception. It’s all about finding & capturing joy in the unexpected moments. Beautifully. These are the things that I’m in the lookout for when I photograph your wedding day. They also happen to be my favorite kinds of photos to capture and give to my clients. And I don’t need a shot list to find them ;) If you’re in need of a wedding photographer here in North Carolina and connect with what I’m saying here, I want to hear from you!
