Rain or shine, Lake Johnson Park is a beautiful place to get married...

A few weeks ago on a romantically rainy weekend in late April, I had the pleasure of photographing my clients L & S on their wedding day at Lake Johnson Park in Raleigh North Carolina. This was a sweet event attended by close family and friends who came from near and far to attend the wedding. The ceremony took place under the covered porch overlooking the lake. As the couple spoke their vows the silence was only broken by the soft tapping of the raindrops falling upon the roof and the occasional honking of a pair of Canada Geese calling to one another across the water. 

After the ceremony and family and wedding party - formal portrait time had concluded, the couple and I headed down to the docks to try and get a few couples pictures while the rain's intensity had subsided. I was lucky enough that one of their guests walked behind me to hold an umbrella over my head to help me protect my gear in the rain. So sweet!

When we finished taking the couples portraits down at the shore, we then made the trip back up the stairs to enter the visitors center at the Park where the reception was already in full swing. Since most of the people attending this wedding knew each other very well, it was an excellent situation for me to capture a bunch of nice candid style photos of my clients and their guests having fun laughing and talking with each other. Their University of North Carolina themed wedding cake was particularly awesome! The groom's chocolate cake was really pretty too.

This was yet another example of a small wedding, the kind that I absolutely adore taking pictures of. I just love being able to take photographs of happy and relaxed people every weekend, such a wonderful way to earn my living doing what I love for people in love!
