I always look forward to photographing a wedding at the Preston Woodall House so I have been super excited to cover this day for my clients B & D for quite a while.
Arriving at the venue in Benson in the early afternoon I got started taking pictures of the bride D. as she and her best friend got ready for her wedding.
The abundant natural light filtering through the multi colored curtains cast a silvery lavender tinted glow throughout the room that was just gorgeous. Normally I would use a flash for the "get ready" portraits but this kind of natural light was just too beautiful not to take advantage of.
Once D. was finished getting dressed she and her fiancé B. held a no-peek, first-look session in the hallway on the second floor of the venue. There they exchanged handwritten notes and held hands for a few minutes before parting for the ceremony.
B. and D.'s wedding ceremony took place in the backyard of the venue under partly cloudy skies. A typical North Carolina summer day with hot weather and thunderstorms in the forecast, nonetheless this fact did not dampen the spirits of the bride and groom or their guests. They exchanged vows and sealed the deal with the kiss much to the delight of their family and friends in attendance.
After taking the families formal portraits B., D. and I took a few minutes to capture the couples pictures in the garden by the fountain on the side of the house. The happy couple took this time to relax and unwind a bit before The three of us headed inside to start the reception.
The evening got underway with B. and D. sharing their first dance in the Grand ballroom of the venue. After a brief speech by the brides mother and a dinner blessing by her grandfather, the bride, groom and their guests enjoyed their dinner.
Heartfelt toasts to the bride and groom were delivered by the Best Man and Maid of Honor. The tears were flowing and lots of hugs were given once the words ebbed. It was amazing to photograph these touching moments held between close friends.
After everyone's eyes were dried it was time to start the party! The DJ had the music pumping and everyone out here was having a blast. What a fun group to take pictures of as they laughed and danced while twirling on the dance floor.
Towards the end of the evening, the happy couple and I snuck away from the action to take a few last couples portraits on the front porch of the house. The gentle glow from the porch lights offered a romantic backdrop for these last few photos. What a perfectly lovely way to end this beautiful day!
Congratulations D. and B. !
