Sometimes things don't go exactly as planned. It's OK though because no matter what, your wedding day is a happy occasion. Andrey and Kristina's wedding day took place in the mountains of western North Carolina. It rained for half the day but they were absolutely all about hiking up a mountain with me to capture some epic romantic portraits of just the two of them at the top of the world. It was foggy, cold, wet and windy as we reached the summit of Craggy Pinnacle. The light was perfect though as it cast a silvery glow over the world around us.
In the moments where I was capturing their portraits on that cold and wet afternoon, I simply could not be happier. This is the kind of photography that I live for. it is challenging. It is difficult. It forces me to think about my camera settings and to act fast so that my sweet couple did not have to stand in the cold without their jackets for very long in between shots. The best part is that throughout the entire session, Andrey and Kristina were smiling and snuggling like the weather wasn't even a factor. In fact, they even asked me if it was ok that we kept shooting long after I had taken a great number of shots because they were genuinely having a great time. It was then that I knew that the photos that we were capturing together would truly be like no others I had the opportunity to capture on a wedding day before. The weather and the smiles made all the difference.
Once we finished with their pictures, Andrey, Kristina, their wedding party and I made our way back down the mountain to the Liberty Baptist Church in Candler, N.C. where they would hold their outdoor ceremony. Right on cue, the rain stopped, the clouds parted and the sun came out just as the wedding started. It was just perfect! When their ceremony ended the couple had a long receiving line to greet so I happily snapped away as they hugged their family and friends. Such a sweet set of memories.
Their reception party was held inside of their church and it was an absolute blast to photograph. So many good candid moments to capture and lots of bright smiles to go around! Their were wedding games and gifts handed out from the couple to their wedding guests (yes, this is a thing!) and it was just a lot of fun to try and document all the action :)
