Dancing on your wedding day

Ok so here’s the thing. I can’t dance. I’ve got no idea how these beautiful couples that I photographed can make this stuff look so effortless. Oh yah I try, but only when I’m home alone, ear buds blasting and I’m 100% sure no one can see me scooting around on my hardwood floors in my socks lol! Somehow I get the feeling that I’m not the only one ;) Here’s the main thing though to consider if your feeling nervous about dancing on your wedding day... As with every aspect of your wedding, apart from the official ceremony, the first dance is not something you absolutely, positively have to do. In fact, not every couple chooses to carry on this tradition and that’s totally ok! You do you. That being said, it is one of the big highlights (photo-wise) of any wedding and it is also, likely, one of the few undisturbed moments you’ll get with your new partner in the hours following your ceremony. I mean the photos do look beautiful, right!? So what can be done? Other than taking dance lessons and popping a Xanax, here’s a few other ideas that may help... If you want to have a first dance, but aren’t comfortable with pulling off the ‘full on-floating-formal deal, you could just sway back and forth in each others arms to your favourite song for a bit. Then, just arrange for your DJ to encourage your guests to join in after a few minutes. Another idea is that you could invite your your entire wedding party onto the dance floor to preform a fun choreographed routine. This is good choice if you are particularly nervous about getting up and dancing in front of everybody. This way, you could still receive some gorgeous (and maybe fun!) photos without feeling as anxious about being in the spotlight. ;) . . . #raleighweddingphotographer #durhamweddingphotography #winstonsalemweddingphotographer #caryncweddingphotographer #ncweddingphotography #silvercordeventphotography #weddingphotography #weddingphotos #wilmingtonweddingphotographer #chapelhillweddingphotographer #ncweddings #northcarolinaweddingphotogapher #engaged💍
