I really enjoy photographing the get ready portion of a wedding day. It's a good time for me to take pictures of all of the detail items found in the brides and grooms attire. The special items like an heirloom pocket watch given to the groom before he walks down the aisle. Those beautiful earrings that the brides mother gave to her or the "something blue" that is a staple of wedding day attire. The dress hanging in the north window, the shoes, rings and the colorful bouquet of carefully chosen flowers all add up to a lovely chance for me to photograph some truly beautiful images.
The get ready time is a wonderful opportunity for me to capture some memorable candid photographs of my clients and their wedding parties primping and preparing themselves for the ceremony to come. Those tears from a father when he first sees his daughter in a wedding dress or the moment when a mother pins a boutonniere to her sons jacket. Brothers, sisters best friends and close relatives laughing and enjoying a glass of champaign while the bride has her hair curled and makeup applied by a talented stylist. Sure there is chaos occasionally, lots of hairspray and sometimes a few minor snafus but on a whole it is a wondrous thing to document the process my clients go from everyday 'looks to wedding day gorgeousness.
Here are a couple of my favorite "get ready" moments from weddings that I have recently photographed. Most of the following images are candid in nature with exception to some photos where my clients requested a semi formal group shot to be taken.
Enjoy!
